Ocala woman dies after accident involving four vehicles

An Ocala woman died after an accident Thursday involving four vehicles.

Donna Ann Colombo, 56, had been at the wheel of a 2005 GMC Canyon shortly before 5 p.m. on State Road 200 approaching the intersection of SW 60th Street when her vehicle left the roadway and she began driving on the sidewalk, according to a witness. Her vehicle then re-entered the roadway and collided with the rear-end of a 2005 Honda Civic driven by Rhonda Kay Poirier, 62, of Floral City, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Colombo’s vehicle continued westbound and struck the rear-end of a 2014 Toyota Corolla driven by 51-year-old Luz Rivera Arroyo of Dunnellon. Debris from the collision struck a 2005 Chevy Avalanche driven by 51-year-old Damaris Otero Matos of Ocala.

Colombo was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center where she later died of injuries suffered in the crash.

Poirier and a passenger in her vehicle, 40-year-old Bruce Benson of Floral City, suffered minor injuries and were transported to West Marion Hospital.
