Sonic restaurant in Ocala forced to shut down after failing health inspection

A Sonic restaurant in Ocala was forced to shut down last week after failing a health inspection.

The drive-in restaurant at 2401 SW 19th Avenue Road was shut down Wednesday afternoon, according to records from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Roaches were the main reason for the closure.

At the cook line; three dead roaches on floor. Approximately eighteen dead roaches on floor in three compartment area. Approximately five dead roaches on floor under storage shelf. Too many to count dead roaches on floor at the drive thru area,” the inspector’s report said.

There were approximately 13 live roaches on the floor under a freezer. There were also two live roaches on the floor in front of a walk-in cooler entrance.

The restaurant has since been allowed to re-open.
