Four Ocala teens injured in single-vehicle crash in Marion County

Four Ocala teens were injured early Thursday after a single-vehicle crash in Marion County. Two of the teens were critically injured.

Around 12:35 a.m., a 2007 Chevrolet Impala driven by 19-year-old Jeffrey Foiles was traveling eastbound on NE 90th Street Road, approximately one mile east of NE 58th Avenue, and was negotiating a right curve, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. Foiles was unable to maintain control of his vehicle while exiting the curve, causing the vehicle to rotate in a clockwise motion and run off the roadway onto the north grassy shoulder, the report stated. The right rear of the vehicle struck a fence line and continued to rotate in a clockwise motion until its left rear struck a tree. The impact redirected the vehicle counterclockwise and came to final rest facing northbound within the north grassy shoulder.

Foiles was transported to Munroe Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. A fellow passenger, 16-year-old Layla Glenn, was transported to Shands Hospital with serious injuries. Two other passengers, 17-year-old Ciara Glenn and 15-year-old Destiny Tyler, were critically injured and transported to Shands Hospital.

All teens were wearing seatbelts. Charges are pending.
