Buyer pays out $275,000 for colt at Ocala Breeders’ Sales October Yearling Sale

John C. Oxley went to $275,000 to purchase Hip #126, a son of Violence out of the Pulpit mare Frank’s Hope in the Ocala Breeders’ Sales October Yearling Sale. The colt was consigned by Kaizen Sales.

The sales’ top seller was in the Select portion of the sale that saw 398 yearlings go through the sales’ ring in the two-day sale.

Oxley was quite busy during the Select portion of the sale as he also went $150,000 for Hip #54, a son of Distorted Humor who is out of Sweet Talker who is by Stormin Fever.

Hip #54 was consigned by Beth Bayer, agent.

Oxley didn’t restrict his spending to the Select session of the sale. He also purchased the top seller in the Open session.

He spent $170,000 for Catherinethegreat, who topped the Open session of the sale.

Sold as Hip #545, Catherinethegreat is by Uncaptured out of Classy City Lady who is by Carson City. Hip #545 was consigned by Turtle Pond Farm.

Uncaptured was well represented in the Open session of the sale. Three of the top five sellers in that portion of the sale were by Uncaptured.

Among the top sellers of the session was Hip #377. A filly out of Sassy Hooper by Bob and John was consigned by Janie Roper, agent. Waves Bloodstock, agent went to $90,000 for the youngster.

Anthony Costanzo went $60,000 for an Uncaptured filly, who sold as Hip #587. The filly is out of Fabiana’s Flash, who is by City Zip. Summerfield, agent was the seller.

City Zip got his early training in the Lakes and Live Oaks section of The Villages.

The next sale on the OBS agenda is the 2018 Winter Mixed Sale, which includes horses of racing age. The sale is scheduled for Jan. 24-26 next year.
