Pair with drugs, loaded weapons arrested in parking lot of Dollar General in Ocala

Two men with drugs and loaded weapons were arrested last week in the parking lot of a Dollar General in Ocala.

The Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team detained the two men, 20-year-old Kevin Woods Jr. and 24-year-old Lyndell Thoma, on Jan. 24 after the odor of marijuana was detected coming from their vehicle.

While being placed in handcuffs, Woods retrieved a clear bag containing crack cocaine from his sweatshirt. A Glock pistol with an attached high-capacity drum magazine was located on the floorboard where Woods was sitting and readily accessible. Also in the floorboard of Woods’ seat was a backpack and a bag containing a Smith & Wesson .40-caliber pistol, digital scale, baggies of MDMA in excess of 10 grams, marijuana package for sale, and Fentanyl in excess of four grams.

Guns, drugs and cash were found in the men’s vehicle.

Both weapons were loaded with live rounds of ammunition in the chamber. A records check revealed that the Glock pistol was reported stolen in a previous Ocala Police Department case.

A further search turned up multiple bags of marijuana, loose currency, a bag of unidentified brown powder appearing to be the same particles as the Fentanyl substance and another digital scale.

Both men were taken into custody and booked at the Marion County Jail.
