Ocala woman critically injured in rollover crash

An Ocala woman was critically injured Wednesday afternoon during a three-car crash in Marion County.

Carolina Diaz De Contrera, 53, of Ocala, was partially ejected from her 2002 Chrysler Voyager after it collided with a pickup truck and a small SUV at the intersection of Oak Road and Emerald Road in Ocala, a Florida Highway Patrol report states. De Contrera was not wearing a seatbelt.

According to the report, Juan Santamaria, 26, of Summerfield, was traveling east on Emerald Road in a gray 2009 Ford pickup truck when he ran a stop sign and hit De Contrera’s van, which was traveling south on Oak Road. De Contrera’s vehicle overturned and collided with a red 2013 Ford Escape driven by 24-year-old Kurt Wall of Ocala.

De Contrera was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. Wall and his passenger, 41-year-old Jeremy Watts, of Leesburg, received minor injuries. Santamaria wasn’t hurt in the crash.

Alcohol was not a factor and the investigation is ongoing.
