FHP looking for truck which caused crash on Florida Turnpike in Sumter County

The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for the driver of a truck which caused a crash Saturday morning on the Florida Turnpike in Sumter County.
The tractor-trailer truck was traveling southbound at about 6:30 a.m. in the outside lane at Mile Marker 301.

Another truck, driven by 47-year-old Debora Plumey of Miami, was traveling southbound in the inside lane. The truck was passing Plumey’s truck when the tractor-trailer entered the inside lane and sideswiped the passenger side outside mirror. Plumey’s truck left the roadway, entered the median, collided with a guardrail and overturned in the median.

This truck crashed Saturday morning on the Florida Turnpike in Sumter County.

Following the crash, a load of roadway striping paint spilled from Plumey’s truck along the roadway.

Plumey escaped injury. A passenger, 38-year-old Orlano Plumey-Velez, also of Miami, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Both had been wearing their seatbelts.

The truck for which the FHP is looking is described only as a tractor-trailer. It continued southbound and failed to stop.

Anyone with information regarding the missing truck is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol by calling *FHP (*347).

Paint spilled onto the road surface as a result of the crash.
