Retired Ocala man arrested after bleeding woman runs to neighbor’s house for help

Delbert L. Bollinger

A retired Ocala man was arrested Thursday night after a 79-year-old woman who was bleeding ran to a neighbor’s house for help.

According to a Marion County Sheriff’s Office report, Delbert L. Bollinger, 77, was taken into custody at his home on NW 21st Loop after a woman who lives at the residence called for help. The woman told deputies that she and Bollinger were arguing when he angry and physical with her. The woman said he pulled her har and grabbed her left arm, which resulted in the skin being ripped off, the report states, adding that paramedics from Marion County Fire Rescue treated the woman.

Bollinger told deputies the woman suffers from dementia and may have fallen. When asked how that might have happened, Bollinger repeated that the woman suffers from dementia, which causes her to fall. Bollinger couldn’t explain why the woman sought help from a neighbor and was in fear for her safety, other than to repeat again that she has dementia, the report says.

The deputy noted that the woman had blood on the front of her robe and a tear in her skin on the top of her left arm that was still bleeding. The report also states that she completed a written statement that was consistent with her verbal account of the incident.

Bollinger was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with battery on a person 65 years of age or older and was held on $2,000 bond.
