Ocala man dies after SUV leaves roadway and strikes utility pole

A 55-year-old Ocala man died after his SUV left the roadway and struck a utility pole Thursday night on County Road 326 in Marion County.

A 55-year-old Ocala man died after his SUV left the roadway and struck a utility pole Thursday night on County Road 326 in Marion County.

Brian Scott Oliver had been at the wheel of the 2003 Chevy Trailblazer at 8 p.m. when it left the roadway and overturned, ejecting him from the vehicle, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The vehicle came to a final rest on its roof.

Marion County Fire Rescue arrived on the scene and pronounced Oliver dead at 8:09 p.m., the report said. He had not been wearing a seatbelt.
