A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger was critically injured in a crash Saturday night in Hernando County.
William Richard Penning, 65, of Homosassa, had been riding a 2016 Harley-Davidson at 10:09 p.m. when he turned into the path of a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze driven by 74-year-old Thomas Schilk of Spring Hill, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Penning was ejected from the motorcycle in the collision. He was transported to Bayonet Pointe Regional Medical Center where he later died of injuries suffered in the crash.
A passenger, 64-year-old Joyce Ann Keller of Homosassa, suffered critical injuries in the crash.
She was transported to Bayonet Pointe Regional Medical Center.
The report noted that neither Penning or Keller had been wearing helmets.
