Woman calls sheriff’s deputy for help after 3-day-old mini-donkey goes missing

An Ocala woman called a Marion County sheriff’s deputy for help Wednesday after her baby donkey went missing.

The woman, who lives in the 8400 block of SW 16th Avenue in Ocala, told the deputy that the 3-day-old mini-donkey was taken from her property sometime during the night of Aug. 26. She estimated the donkey’s value at $600 and said there were several other animals in the area where it was being kept, a sheriff’s office report states.

The woman also told the deputy that she had hired professional trackers to help search for the donkey. And she said a “large reward” was being offered for information leading to the baby animal’s whereabouts.
