Violent choking attack lands Belleview man behind bars

Timothy Michael Lee

A Marion County deputy was called for help late Tuesday night after an altercation between a Belleview man and woman turned violent.

When the deputy arrived at the residence, located on SE 110th Street, 29-year-old Timothy Michael Lee admitted he “lost his temper” while arguing with a woman at the home. When asked what happened then, Lee told the deputy he would have to speak with the woman, a sheriff’s office report states.

A short time later, the woman told the deputy that Lee “had been yelling at her and she yelled back at him and said hateful things to him,” which made him angry. She said he then climbed on top of her and “choked her with both hands around her neck” while also slapping her several times on the left side of her face, the report says.

The woman also said that she wasn’t able to breathe while she was being choked and that Lee was pressing his thumbs into both sides of her neck, the report says.

The deputy noted that he saw red marks on both sides of the woman’s face. When asked if he put his hands on the woman, Lee told the deputy “he had nothing else to say.”

Lee was transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with domestic battery by strangulation. He was being held on $5,000 bond and is due to appear in Marion County Court on Nov. 20 at 9 a.m.
