Belleview man jailed three nights after battle over dinner plans turns ugly

Timothy Lee Strickland

An argument over dinner last week landed a Belleview man in jail Sunday night.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to a house on E. Hwy. 25 in Belleview on Sunday night and when they arrived, a woman told them that 48-year-old Timothy Lee Strickland had pushed her up against the edge of a wall this past Friday during a verbal altercation about their dinner plans. The woman said she suffered a scrape on her right forearm and a bruise on the right side of her abdomen, a sheriff’s office report states, adding that the woman also claimed Strickland poked her and slapped her on the left side of her face.

After observing an abrasion on the woman’s right forearm and a bruise on her right-side abdomen, the deputy spoke with Strickland, who said he had argued with the woman for the past three nights but denied any physical violence, the report says.

After a check of Strickland’s criminal record showed that he had a prior conviction for domestic battery on Dec. 2, 1993, he was taken into custody, transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with battery (second or subsequent offense).

Strickland, who also spent time in the jail in November 2014 and April 2004, was released Monday night on $1,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 20 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charge.
