Ocala first-grader caught exposing himself to other students

A Marion Oaks Elementary School student was disciplined Monday after he exposed himself to other children in the bathroom.

The school’s resource officer, a Marion County sheriff’s deputy, was asked to sit in on a meeting with the principal and the first-grader at the Ocala school, located at 280 Marion Oaks Trl.

During the meeting, the 7-year-old told them that he was in the restroom when another student walked in wearing a white T-shirt and black glasses. The boy said another student also was in the restroom “and he decided to expose himself,” a sheriff’s office report states, adding that the first-grader said he “was not asked to do it” and he “was just playing around.”

The boy was told that that type of behavior wouldn’t be tolerated at the school. The school’s dean contacted the boy’s mother and made here aware of the incident. And the school’s administration handed the disciplinary action taken against the boy.

The school resource officer contacted the Department of Children and Families and was told by an operator that a report would not be generated. The deputy also requested that the incident be closed, “as it does not rise to the level of a criminal offense at this time,” the report says.

A similar incident happened last week at East Marion Elementary School when the school’s dean reported seeing a student naked in the bathroom exposing himself to two other juveniles. When questioned, the boy said he saw “poop” on the wall and was leaving out of a stall when the other students walked into the bathroom.
