Violent battle with intoxicated minor lands Citra woman behind bars

Haleigh Morrison

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy arrested a Citra woman Sunday night after a violent battle with an intoxicated minor.

While responding to a call for help at a home on NE 232 Place, the deputy was told that the minor had left the residence and was walking toward E Hwy. 318. The deputy made contact with him at about 7:30 p.m. and reported that the minor was “unable to advise much about what happened,” a sheriff’s office report states, adding that the deputy took him back to the residence on NE 232nd Place to investigate the incident.

When the deputy arrived at the house, Haleigh Morrison, 21, said she got into an argument with the minor after she ordered him out of her car. She said after locking him out of the vehicle, he “got into her face and was pointing at her” while saying, “Push me,” a sheriff’s office report states.

The minor’s brother told the deputy that he heard yelling outside of the residence and when he went to see what was going on, he saw Morrison push his brother. He said he got between the two to separate them and then went back inside the house. He said he heard more yelling a short time later and when he went back outside, he saw Morrison on top of his brother, striking him. He said he again separated both parties and his brother left the residence, the report says.

Another witness confirmed the brother’s account of what took place. And she added that Morrison received neck injuries when the minor was attempting to push her off of him.
Morrison was taken into custody, transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with battery. She was released early Monday morning on $500 bond and is due in court on Jan. 11 at 1:30 p.m.
