Doretha H. Griffin was born February 11, 1939 to the late Robert and Beatrice Humbert in Dunnellon, FL. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1957. She was married for 56 year to the Brother Walter Griffin, Jr.
Doretha was employed by Citrus County School Board and retired after 24 years of service. Sister Griffin was a faithful member of First Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, joining under the pastorate of the late Rev. H.F. Gary. She loved the lord and she loved her church. Sister Griffin loved singing and started singing in the choir as a young girl. Her powerful soprano voice was heard and recognized in surrounding communities. She attended Sunday School and Bible Study until her health began to fail.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted sons, Walter Griffin III (Jerona), Indianapolis, IN; Robert Griffin (Neicy) Ft. Myers, FL; Bruce Griffin (Renee) Dunnellon, FL; sister; Cathy Kabine, Brooksville, FL; brothers, Robert Humbert (Lillian), Tacoma Washington, Henry Humbert, Tampa, FL; aunt, Maple Easmon (Willie) Dunnellon, FL; and a host of grandchildren, and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Public viewing will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Clark Funeral Home, 434 NW Martin Luther King Jr Ave, Ocala FL. Funeral Services will be held at First Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Dunnellon, FL at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 10, 2018 under the direction of Clark Funeral Home.
