In today’s world where fraud runs rampant, even a sheriff’s office can become a victim.
That’s exactly what happened last week when an employee in the fleet services division of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office called a deputy to report that someone had used one of the agency’s gas cards four times at two different locations. Only one transaction went through but it involved a $250 charge at a Circle K located at 4804 Gunn Hwy. in Tampa, a sheriff’s office report states.
The fleet services employee told the deputy that a report had to be generated to start the refund process from the credit card company.
