FHP seeks help in finding vehicle that killed 22-year-old in hit-and-run crash

The Florida Highway Patrol is asking for help in locating a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run crash Saturday night on State Road 40 that left a 22-year-old woman dead.

Gypsy Star McEntire, 22, was riding her scooter on SR 40 near NW 49th Ave. at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday when she was hit by a silver Chrysler 300. She died later that night at Ocala Regional Medical Center, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

Gypsy Star McEntire was riding her scooter on SR 40 near NW 49th Ave. at about 6:30 p.m. when she was hit by a silver Chrysler 300. The driver of the car, believed to be between the model years of 2005 to 2010, then fled the scene, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

McEntire, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center, where she died at about 9 p.m. A GoFundMe account that can be accessed HERE has been set up by her family to help with burial expenses.

Troopers say the four-door Chrysler 300, which was last seen traveling north on NW 53rd Court, will have significant front-end damage (missing front chrome grill and fog lamps) as a result of the collision.
