Area residents showed recently that they weren’t going to let a thief ruin Christmas for many needy area children.

Area residents Tim Phillips and his daughter, Saniah, and James Rogers Jr., of Insulco Insulation, donated a total of $750 to Toys for Tots to replenish money for the charity drive that was stolen from an area Wendy’s restaurant recently.
This man is being sought in connection with taking hundreds of dollars for Toys for Tots from a Wendy’s restaurant on E State Road 40 last month.

Last month, a man who is being sought by Ocala police stole hundreds of dollars from the Toys for Tots fund at a Wendy’s restaurant located on E State Road 40.

But while that thief remains on the loose and still is being sought by the Ocala Police Department, a couple of area residents decided to take matters into their own hands as far as the money was concerned.

Recently, area residents Tim Phillips and his daughter, Saniah, stopped by the police department to donate $500 donation to Toys for Tots. James Rogers Jr., of Insulco Insulation, also pitched in with $250 – all part of the effort to turn a negative into a positive and replace the money that was stolen.

Ocala Police still are looking for the Wendy’s thief and are asking the public for help. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 369-7000.

The $750 in donations brought to the Ocala Police Department for Toys for Tots will be used to provide toys for needy children in the Ocala/Marion County area.
