Ocklawaha man behind bars after woman’s throat cut in love triangle battle

Terry Horner

A 59-year-old Ocklawaha man was arrested Thursday after allegedly cutting a woman’s throat during an altercation that started as an argument between his girlfriend and the victim.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called around 3:30 p.m. to the home of Terry Lee Horner at 18952 S.E. 105th Place in Ocklawaha. He was met by the victim, who said Horner confronted her about an argument she had with his girlfriend. The victim said Horner approached her aggressively near the property and raised his arms, causing her to fear he was going to strike her.

The victim said she grabbed Horner by the wrists to restrain him and tried to assist him into a chair next to the fence, however Horner fell to the ground. He then grabbed a knife and said, “I’ll kill you,” before striking the victim in the neck with the blade, causing a laceration that the deputy observed. The victim said she was afraid Horner would kill her. A witness confirmed the victim’s account of the incident.

Horner admitted to confronting the victim because she disrespected his girlfriend. He said the woman pushed him onto a pile of debris near the fence and that he did not strike her with a knife.

The girlfriend told the deputy that she saw the victim strike Horner in the face approximately four times and push him onto the debris pile. She said there was no knife involved in the altercation.

Horner, who has a lengthy record of drug offenses dating back to 2005 and told the deputy he is disabled, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He remains in the Marion County Jail on $4,000 bond, with a court date of Jan. 15.
