Dan Sandstrom, August 11, 1989 – December 20, 2018, the son of John Henry Sandstrom, Jr. and Kim Lynette Sandstrom of Ocala, FL, was born in Portland and grew up in Hillsboro, OR. At 16, he moved to Ocala, and attended Forest HS. Daniel was the former co-owner of Marion Cafe and worked at The Lodge in Ocala. Daniel was a Boy Scout, an altar boy and member of Saint Matthew’s Catholic Church in Hillsboro.

Daniel loved snowboarding and skateboarding. He played lacrosse, football, baseball and wrestled. He was honored as one of Ocala Magazine’s successful 40 Under 40 in 2017. Daniel loved conservation, ecology and his family and friends. Daniel had been active in the recovery community and was noted for supporting and encouraging many on their road to recovery. He too, was helped many times by friends.

At 14, Daniel lost his sister, Diana and remained close to her daughter. Daniel is survived by his parents, John and Kim Sandstrom; their spouses, Mary and Simon Hawksey; fiance, Sara Hutchins; brothers, Nick and Joe Sandstrom, Jeremy and Jonathan Brookins; niece, Julia Belle Brookins; baby-to-be, Quinn Lynette; grandmother, Julie Munn, and many more family and friends in Oregon, California, and Florida.

Please join us for Dan’s Memorial Service Saturday January 5, 2018 Blessed Trinity Catholic Church from 1-2:30 followed by food and fellowship; Unity Place from 3-5.
