Ohio man’s orange big rig goes missing from Ocala truck stop

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called to a truck stop Sunday after a driver discovered that his semi was missing.

When the deputy arrived at the Pilot Travel Center, located at 2020 SW Hwy. 484, the 53-year-old driver for Peterson Transport Inc. said his 2018 orange Peterbilt 389 semi-truck and a silver flatbed trailer apparently had been stolen. He said he parked the truck, out of Iowa, at the Pilot Travel Center this past Thursday and it was still there Friday shortly after 11 a.m. But when he returned to the truck stop Sunday at 12:45 p.m., the big rig was no longer there, the man said.

In addition, the semi’s license tags and stickers, several items of clothing were taken, along with a Garmin GPS unit, two CB radios, a microwave and phone cords, the report says, adding that the driver, of Canton, Ohio, provided the deputy with a DVD containing photos of the truck and trailer.
