An Orlando man who was spotted Monday night driving without his seatbelt ended up in the Marion County Jail a short time later.
A sheriff’s deputy stopped the 2014 black Honda, driven by 36-year-old Wilfredo Anibal Mendez, in the 3400 block of SE 58th Avenue in Ocala at about 10:30 p.m. When asked to produce his driver’s license, Mendez handed the deputy a Florida identification card, the report says.
A computer check revealed that Mendez’s license had numerous suspensions, including a conviction in Orange County on Aug. 23, 2017. His driving record showed that his license was:
- Suspended indefinitely on Dec. 24, 2018 for delinquent child support;
- Suspended indefinitely on Oct. 30, 2018 for failure to pay a traffic fine;
- Suspended/revoked indefinitely on July 17, 2018 for failure to pay a court obligation;
- Suspended indefinitely on May 2, 2018 for failure to pay a traffic fine;
- Revoked for one year on Jan. 22, 2018 for a controlled substance charge;
- Revoked for one year on Dec. 13, 2017 for a controlled substance charge;
- Suspended indefinitely on Dec. 7, 2017 for failure to pay a traffic fine;
- Suspended indefinitely on Sept. 26, 2017 for failure to appear in court;
- Suspended indefinitely on Sept. 5, 2017 for failure to pay a traffic fine;
- Canceled indefinitely on May 23, 2017 after it had expired; and
- Revoked for one year on March 30, 2017 for a controlled substance charge.
Mendez who is self-employed and lives at 7509 Savannah Grand Drive 7 in Orlando, was transported to the jail and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was being held on $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 19 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charge.
