Marion County school bus loaded with children involved in crash on U.S. 301

A Marion County school bus carrying 25 students was involved in a crash early Thursday morning.

The bus, being driven by 50 year-old Yolanda Duncan, of Ocala, was attempting make a right turn onto SE 177th Place in the northern end of the county when it was rear-ended by a 2013 van driven by 34-year-old Brad Root. A passenger seated in the rear of the 2001 bus, 52-year-old Jacqueline Ivey, also of Ocala, complained of neck and back pain and was transported to Advent Health Ocala with minor injuries, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

None of the children on the bus were injured and all were checked out by personnel from Marion County Fire Rescue. Both Duncan and Root also escaped injury, the report says, adding that Root was cited for careless driving.
