Driver suffers electrical shocks when vehicle slams into power pole in Ocala

An Ocala motorist suffered electrical shocks in a single-vehicle crash early Friday morning.

The driver of this heavily damaged vehicle suffered electrical shocks after slamming into a power pole and cable box early Friday morning.

The incident, which happened in the 600 block of SE 17th Street, knocked out power to the area after the driver struck a power pole and cable box. The driver suffered electrical shocks during the crash and was trauma alerted to a local hospital.

The driver, whose gender isn’t identified in the report, was reportedly improving and doing well, an Ocala Police Department report states.

Ocala Electric Utility conducted repairs and the outside westbound lanes of the roadway were blocked part of the morning, the report says, adding that Cox Cable responded to the scene to make repairs to the damaged cable box and Century Link had been notified.
