County grant money available for substance abuse prevention services

Agencies providing substance-abuse education or treatment services in Marion County may qualify for grant funding.

Money is available through the Marion County Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Trust Fund. Applications will be accepted through March 15.

Assistance grants are awarded to qualifying agency programs based on the following criteria: length of time the program has been in existence, program success, number of citizens served annually by the program, and available grant funds.

Grant funds will be provided on a reimbursement basis for programs taking place from Oct. 1, 2019 to Sept. 30, 2020. A total of $20,000 is available.

Proposals recommended for grant assistance will be presented to the Marion County Board of County Commissioners for approval. Grant recipients will be notified by email upon board approval.

Contact Mike McCain at (352) 438-2313 to apply or learn more about the trust fund. You can also contact McCain at Michael.Mccain@marioncountyfl.org.
