Infidelity spat leaves cell-phone-protecting Belleview man behind bars

Kenneth Dale Thomason

A Belleview man was charged with domestic battery after he allegedly choked a woman to keep her from seeing his cell phone.

The Marion County sheriff’s deputy who responded late Wednesday night to a home on Spring Place Drive in Ocala was told by the victim that she and Kenneth Dale Thomason, 59, had gotten into an argument over infidelity. She said she asked to see Thomason’s cell phone but he refused.

The victim said when she went to get Thomason’s phone out of his van in the driveway, he followed her, punched her in the mouth and pushed her to the ground. She said he then mounted her and began choking her, causing her to urinate herself.

The woman said she was still able to breath and was able to get Thomason off of her by biting his hand and arm. The deputy observed the victim’s bottom lip was bloody and swollen, she had several marks on both sides of her neck and her pants were soiled.

Thomason, whose address is listed as 3480 SE 131st Place in Belleview, told the deputy he only pushed the victim after she bit his arm. He denied punching or choking her. He was charged with domestic battery by strangulation and taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Friday on $2,500 bond. His next appearance in Marion County Court is set for March 12.
