Ocala man behind bars after refusing to pay for food and drinks at steakhouse

An Ocala man who enjoyed food and drinks at a local steakhouse found himself behind bars Thursday night after he refused to pay his tab.

Brad Jacobowitz, 37, was arrested Thursday night after being accused of consuming $47.89 worth of food and drinks at the Outback Steakhouse at 3215 SW College Rd. and then allegedly refusing to pay his bill.

An Ocala Police officer was called to the Outback Steakhouse at 3215 SW College Rd. and spoke with a manager, who pointed out 37-year-old Brad Jacobowitz sitting at the bar. The manager said Jacobowitz had consumed $47.89 worth of food and drinks and was refusing to pay his bill, an Ocala Police report states.

The officer spoke with Jacobowitz and told him that the manager wanted him to pay his tab and leave the restaurant. He said that he didn’t have any money and that he would probably have to go to jail because he couldn’t pay and he “had to eat,” the report says.

Jacobowitz was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was searched and it was confirmed that he had no money with him. He was charged with theft from a public food establishment, held on $100 bond and scheduled to appear in court April 9 at 9 a.m.
