Five transported to area hospitals after vehicles collide at busy Ocala intersection

Two adults and three children were transported to area hospitals after two vehicles collided along the intersection of NE 14th Street and NE 25th Avenue.

Ocala Fire Rescue crews responding to a vehicle accident along the intersection of NE 14th Street and NE 25th Avenue on Monday night found a red sedan with heavy front-end damage and a white SUV on its side. Five patients were transported to two area hospitals – Ocala Regional Medical Center and UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

Crews from Ocala Fire Rescue responded to reports of a vehicle accident shortly after 9 p.m. When they arrived within two minutes of receiving the call, firefighters found a red sedan with heavy front-end damage and a white SUV on its side, a report states.

The fire crews assessed all of the crash victims and determined that one of the two people in the sedan and four of the seven in the SUV needed to be transported to two area hospitals – Ocala Regional Medical Center and UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville, the report says.

Ocala Fire Rescue sent Engine No. 5, Rescue No. 1, Tower No. 1 and Battalion Chief No. 11 to the accident scene. Officers from the Ocala Police Department and crews from Marion County Fire Rescue also responded.
