Ocala Police major caught up in crash while responding to bank robbery call

An Ocala Police major was involved in a vehicle crash Thursday while responding to a possible bank robbery.

Maj. Lou Biondi was responding to the call at the Bank of America, located at 3120 SW 34th Ave., when the crash occurred. Biondi had his emergency equipment activated when the crash occurred at the intersection of

Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and State Road 200, an Ocala Police report states.
Biondi and the other motorists involved in the crash declined medical treatment and weren’t transported to a hospital. And the accident still is under investigation.

Officers spoke with a possible suspect outside the bank branch and determined that the robbery was unfounded, the report says.
