Crash victim rescued after vehicle flips over barrier and falls into embankment

Ocala Fire Rescue crews were called to remove a crash victim from this mangled vehicle on Wednesday night.

Ocala Fire Rescue crews were called to rescue a motorist Wednesday night after a vehicle flipped over a barrier and fell into an embankment.

Firefighters responded to the crash at SW 5th Avenue and SW 17th Street in Ocala shortly after 9 a.m. The initial call reported a vehicle rollover with possible impact into a building, a report states.

When firefighters arrived, they found a heavily damaged Ford Focus resting vertically beside the wall of an embankment. Crews from Engine 3 and Rescue 3, as well as Battalion Chief 22, were forced to work around a metal barrier to remove the driver, who was then taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center, the report says.

The crash victim’s condition wasn’t available on Wednesday night. Officers from the Ocala Police Department and firefighters from Marion County Fire Rescue also responded.
