An Ocala man is behind bars after being arrested on 20 counts of possession of child pornography.
Last month, Marion County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Detective Shannon Wiles received a cyber-tip about an apparent child pornography with a listed IP address in Ocala.
Detectives say they were able to identify the subscriber of the IP address as 72-year-old Larry Smallwood, who lives at 9 Hemlock Terrace Drive. During a subsequent interview, detectives say Smallwood admitted to viewing what he thought was child pornography and gave them consent to search his computer.
A digital forensic technician reviewed Smallwood’s computer and subsequently located numerous pornographic images and videos of children, a sheriff’s office report states.
Smallwood was taken into custody Thursday and booked into the Marion County Jail shortly after 5 p.m. He’s being held on $2,000 bond and is due in a Marion County Courtroom on May 14 to answer to the charges.
