Alcohol possibly a factor in Belleview roll-over crash that left three injured

A two-vehicle crash in Belleview on Tuesday afternoon that left three people injured is being investigated as a possible alcohol-related incident.

The crash took place on SE 100th Avenue near the intersection of SE 130th Street shortly before 4 p.m. when a southbound 2001 Chevy Blazer driven by 19-year-old Troy Miller crossed the double yellow line into the path of a 2018 Toyota Camry driven by 90-year-old James Barnett, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

Miller, of Ocala, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the Blazer as it overturned several times in the roadway. He was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

Barnett, of Summerfield, was critically injured in the crash and his passenger, 86-year-old Betty Ehlenburg, also of Summerfield, received minor injuries. Both were transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center

The alcohol-related investigation is continuing and is centered on Miller, the FHP report states.
