Dunnellon man in head-on crash popped for driving without a license for 10th time

Michael Kidwell

A Dunnellon man involved in a head-on crash in Ocala on Sunday was charged with a 10th offense of driving with a suspended license.

An Ocala Police officer responded to the intersection of NE 25th Avenue and NE 14th Street, where he observed a gold Chrysler and a blue Oldsmobile had been involved in the mishap. The officer approached the Oldsmobile and saw the driver – Michael Kidwell, 39, of 16720 SW 67th Place – had been injured and was bleeding from the face. Kidwell exited the vehicle on his own and was evaluated by EMS, according to the OPD report.

A Driver and Vehicle Information Database query revealed that Kidwell’s license was revoked on March 6, 2017, and that he had nine previous convictions dating back to 2001 for driving with a suspended license, according to the report.

Kidwell was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center for his injuries to be evaluated. Once cleared, he was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended or revoked (third or subsequent offense). He was released from the Marion County Jail on Monday on $2,000 bond.
