Marion County Schools looking for paid volunteers this Summer

Marion County Public Schools is offering the opportunity to serve as a paid volunteer through AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate Program at local schools this summer.

For anyone interested in youth development, communications and leadership, this opportunity provides the needed skills. Volunteers receive on-site training, a daily living allowance, and a choice of stipend or education award upon completion. Rewards include experience in the education field, an opportunity to serve in the community, and eligibility for employment with the federal government.

The eight-week commitment runs June 3 – July 28, 2019. Full-time hours are Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Summer associates primarily work with students attending third-grade summer reading camp; however, other programs may also require assistance.

Successful applicants receive $1,889 in living allowance and an educational award of $1,289.95 for college expenses.  Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
