G. Jane Taylor

Jane Taylor, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother graduated into the arms of Jesus on April 25, 2019 at Estelle’s Hospice House in Ocala, Florida.

Born on February 20, 1922 in Hartford City, Indiana, she grew up and married her childhood sweetheart, Alvin Leroy (Roy) Taylor on March 28, 1942. They spent most of their first 30 years of marriage in Huntington, Indiana, where they had a family of two boys and two girls. In 1972, they moved to Ocala, Florida, which had been their dream for several years.

Besides being a loving, faithful wife and mother, Jane had a variety of jobs through the years: pressing shirts in a dry cleaner; Civil Service during WWII while her husband served in the army; book spine presser in a book bindery; assembly line work in TV coils factory, lighting factory and vacuum factory; packaging of party goods at home; pressing clothes for several families for years; door-to-door egg routes as she and her family operated an 18,000-layer chicken farm in Indiana.

Jane enjoyed life and had many hobbies. She crocheted over 700 lap robes that were distributed to nursing home residents, read, watched TV game shows and played myriad of games with family and friends. One of her very favorite activities was sharing time and memories with family and friends. She was a member and active in her church, Grace Presbyterian of Ocala, Florida, until four years ago when she had to enter assisted living due to not being able to walk.

Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Roy; two sons: Byron and Myron; and one grandson, Brent Taylor. She is survived by two daughters: Sherrill Taylor and Serena (Tim) Britton) of Ocala, FL; two daughters-in-law: Peggy Taylor of LaPorte, IN, and Penny Taylor of Ocala, FL; eight grandchildren: Martin (Natacha) Taylor of Ocala, FL; Lisa (Mike) Bartels of Holly Springs, NC; Joy (Randy) Dewing of Gas City, IN; Paul (Melissa) Taylor of Portage, MI; Stacey (Lucas) Jones of Gainesville, FL; Kati Taylor of Indianapolis, IN; Rebecca (Matt) Armstrong of Summerfield, FL; and Robert (Katherine) Britton of Virginia Beach, VA; 19 great-grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family here, but has been exuberantly welcomed and loved by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and family in Heaven.

There will be viewing time for Jane on Tuesday, April 30 at 11:30am at Grace Presbyterian Church (2255 SE 38th Street, Ocala, FL) with a Celebration of Life Service following at 12:30pm. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse or The Gideons International.
