Ocala man jailed after pregnant woman claims he held her down on a bed

Ryan James Sprague

An Ocala man was jailed Tuesday after allegedly hitting and holding a pregnant woman down on a bed against her will.

When deputies arrived at a house on NE 18th Terrace on Tuesday afternoon, a juvenile witness told them that 24-year-old Ryan James Sprague had gotten into an argument with the pregnant woman, hit her and “pushed her on the bed,” a sheriff’s office report states.

The victim told deputies that Sprague had gotten upset at her and pushed her down on the bed while refusing to let her get up, the report says, adding that the deputy noted there were no physical injuries to the victim.

Sprague denied touching the woman and said he knew she was pregnant. He was then taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant victim. He was released late Thursday morning on $1,000 bond and is due in court on June 11 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charge.
