A homeless man was arrested Monday and charged with trespassing at the Publix store in Belleview.

A Belleview Police officer responded to the store, located at 10135 S. U.S. Highway 441, shortly before 2 p.m. after a caller reported that Anibal Valentin Rodriguez, 61, had returned and was sitting next to the propane tanks just outside the entrance. The officer had issued a trespass warning to Rodriguez earlier in the day and warned him he would be arrested if he returned, according to the police report.

Rodriguez told the officer he returned to the store because it had started to rain. The officer noted there were several other nearby businesses that could have provided shelter from the rain, the report said.

Rodriguez was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he’s being held on $1,000 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on June 10.
