20-year-old Ocala man found unconscious in SUV behind bars on drug charges

An Ocala man who initially was reported as being unconscious in his vehicle was arrested Tuesday night on drug charges.

McCormick Daniel Dean, 20, was arrested in Ocala on Tuesday and charged with possession of THC concentrate and drug paraphernalia.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy made contact with 20-year-old McCormick Daniel Dean in the parking lot of the Pearl Britain Plaza, located at 2646 NE 49th Pl. in Ocala. The deputy spoke with Dean after he regained consciousness and was evaluated by paramedics at the scene.

While speaking with Dean, the deputy observed a black electric cigarette with a dark brown oil inside of it in his lap. The deputy asked Dean to step out of the vehicle and the electric cigarette fell into the ground outside the vehicle, a sheriff’s office report states, adding that when asked what was in the electric cigarette, Dean responded, “Weed.”

Dean was read his rights and refused to answer any more questions. A short time later, another deputy searched his black Nissan SUV and located three packages containing dark brown oil cartridges and one empty cartridge, all of which tested positive for THC, the report says.

Dean was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with possession of THC concentrate and drug paraphernalia. He was being held on $3,000 bond and is due in court June 25 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charges.

Dean is no stranger to the Marion County legal system. He also was arrested Feb. 28 and was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription (felony) and possession or use of drug equipment.
