Lucy E. McLellan

Lucy E. McLellan, 95, of Ocala, FL, met her Savior face to face at “Avante at Ocala” on Monday, June 3, 2019. Lucy was born in Presque Isle, Maine, to Levi and Ida Wood.

She was a switchboard operator and bookkeeper. Lucy moved to Salt Springs in the early 1950’s and was very active in her church and community. Lucy was a member of First Baptist Church Salt Springs where she sang in the Joy Choir and was involved with the Nursing Home Ministry and Tape Ministry delivering sermon tapes for home-bound members. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 10208.

Lucy was the best grandmother and great grandmother, often having them stay with her at the lake during the summer months. She was very loving and giving to all her family near and far. She loved reading her Bible, playing Free Cell on the computer, playing cribbage and during the last 3 years she loved playing Bingo at Avante.

She is survived by one daughter, Charlotte Hawkins of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, a daughter-in-law, Jodi McLellan of Salt Springs as well as 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 29 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews along with many special friends who will miss her dearly. A special “Thank You” to the staff and caregivers at Avante for their care and affection over the last 3 years. A special “Thank You” to her roommate and friend, Mary Fannelli.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Salt Springs, 21400 NE Highway 314, Salt Springs, FL 32134 on June 22, 2019, at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to FBC of Salt Springs for the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes.
