Ocala man behind bars after pregnant woman calls sheriff’s deputies for help

Jessie Lewis Goodson III

An Ocala man was arrested Thursday after a pregnant woman claimed he grabbed her by the neck and pushed her up against a wall.

Marion County sheriff deputies were called to a residence Wednesday on SW 66th Terrace. When they arrived, the victim told them that she and 30-year-old Jessie Lewis Goodson III had been having a disagreement when he grabbed her. She said she never lost consciousness but was in fear because he allegedly had choked her in the past. And she said that Goodson knows she’s pregnant, a sheriff’s office report states.

The victim told deputies that Goodson left the area in a black Camaro with blue stripes on its top and was wearing a blue collared shirt and black pants, the report says.

Deputies noted that the woman had a slight red mark on her check and neck area, which was photographed for evidence. They then requested that a warrant be issued for Goodson’s arrest, the report says.

A deputy attempted to make contact with Goodson multiple times via cell phone but the calls went straight to voicemail, which was full, the report says.

On Thursday afternoon, a deputy located Goodson at the residence on SW 66th Terrace. He refused to speak with the deputy regarding the incident and was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, the report says.

Goodson was charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant victim. He is being held on $5,000 bond and is due in court July 9 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charge.
