Ocala man charged with “mushing” his step-grandfather

Travis Labrenta Williams

A 31-year-old Ocala man was arrested Sunday after a family fight that sent his “step-grandfather” to the hospital.

The victim, who is 56, told an Ocala Police officer that Travis Labrenta Williams hit him during an argument about changing a light bulb, an air mattress and food. The officer observed two lacerations on the left side of the victim’s face and some bruising on the right side of his face. The victim was taken to West Marion Hospital to receive stitches, according to the OPD report.

Williams’ biological grandmother, who was in the residence at the time of the incident, said she didn’t witness the event but heard arguing and the victim screaming, the report said.

Interviewed again at the hospital, the victim said Williams struck him three or four times in the face. When asked which hand he used, the victim said Williams punched him with his left hand. The officer noted that Williams is left-handed, according to the report.

Back at the incident location, Williams told the officer he “didn’t mean to mush him like that” and “he had a lamp in his hand.” At this time, his grandmother said she “saw the whole thing.” The officer reminded her she previously said she didn’t see anything but only heard the incident, the report said.

Williams was charged with aggravated domestic battery causing bodily harm or disability and was being held Monday in the Marion County Jail. No bond or court information was available.
