Jealous glass-smashing boyfriend behind bars after nasty altercation

Michael Gary Khork

A jealous Weirsdale man found himself behind bars Thursday morning after a woman tried to break up an argument between him and his live-in lady friend.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on SE 173rd Terrace Rd. late Wednesday night and when they arrived, the victim told them that 20-year-old Michael Gary Khork had been arguing with his girlfriend about her cheating on him.

The victim said the argument escalated and Khork started breaking glass objects in the kitchen. The victim said she then tried to intervene in an attempt to diffuse the verbal altercation, a sheriff’s office report states.

The victim said she tried to call for help after Khork’s girlfriend left the kitchen and returned to her bedroom. But she claimed Khork grabbed her hand and squeezed it hard enough to make her drop the phone, the report says.

The deputy noted that he didn’t see any visible injuries to the victim’s hand. But he did take note of multiple pieces of glass on the floor, along with random food items scattered throughout the kitchen and living room areas.

When deputies made contact with Khork, he said, “I know I’m going to jail. This is a domestic disturbance.” Deputies noted that Khork “appeared heavily intoxicated.” And he kept repeating that he was going to jail for a domestic disturbance, the report says, adding that Khork also denied touching the victim.

Khork was taken into custody and booked into the Marion County Jail early Thursday morning on a charge of domestic battery. He is being held on $2,000 bond and is due in court July 10 at 1 p.m. to answer to the charge.
