Belleview Police scramble to pub after fight breaks out and gunshot scatters crowd

Two Ocala women found themselves behind bars this past weekend after guns were drawn and a shot rang out at a Belleview bar.

Shailya Shaunell Maruca, left, and Alexcia Elizabeth Tooley were arrested this past weekend after an incident involving a fight and handguns at Bumper’s Pub in Belleview.

Belleview Police officers were called to Bumper’s Pub, located at 10837 S U.S. Hwy. 27/441, early Saturday morning in connection with a shooting. When officers arrived shortly before 12:30 a.m., a bartender told them that there was a fight inside the bar, followed by a gunshot. She said everyone then quickly left the pub, a Belleview Police report states.

Officers then watched surveillance video of the incident, which showed a physical altercation near the bar. A woman in a black dress, later identified as 19-year-old Alexcia Elizabeth Tooley, can be seen drawing a small semi-automatic handgun from her purse and pointing it into the air before grabbing another woman’s hair, the report says, adding that Tooley then allegedly brought the gun down and hit a woman on the head.

At the same time, Belleview officers say, 19-year-old Shailya Shaunell Maruca, who listed her occupation as a waitress in Ocala, can be seen brandishing a black handgun and striking the same woman. Tooley and Maruca are then lost in the crowd, the report says.

Later in the video, the woman who was hit with the handguns can be seen striking Maruca several times. A few moments later, everybody in the bar ducks down and several people can be seen running from the bar. Maruca then goes up to Tooley and walks away with a black firearm in her hand. She then hides the weapon under her shirt before exiting the pub, the report says.

A short time later, officers received reports that a gunshot victim had showed up at the Ocala Health Summerfield ER. No information about the victim was contained in either police report.

Tooley, who lives at Paddock Place Apartments in Ocala, was arrested early Saturday morning. She was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, discharging a firearm in public and improper exhibit of a firearm. She was released late Saturday morning on $4,000 bond and her next court date hasn’t yet been set.

Maruca, who lives at 2901 SE 41st St. in Ocala, was arrested Sunday shortly before noon and taken to the jail. She was charged with carrying a concealed firearm, discharging a firearm in public and improper exhibit of a firearm. She was released Sunday afternoon on $4,000 bond and her next court date hasn’t yet been set.
