An Ocala chef who was inspired by a trip to Italy has opened a new catering company.
La Casella, which translates to “the box,” is the brain child of Patti Moring and her decades of experience in the cooking industry.
Moring purchased the business from her former employer and after a trip to the Italian countryside, chose a name that was befitting of her new venture.
The company held a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, June 19, and hosted members of the Ocala Chamber and Economic Partnership to celebrate the opening of their new location (2201 SW College Road).
La Casella offers food for any occasion, preparing dishes for groups as small as only a few people, to groups as large as a few hundred. In addition, the business offers soups and gourmet meals for individual patrons looking to avoid food preparation for an evening, or ten.
The kitchen at La Casella is filled with classic appliances that equip the staff to handle as small or as large a batch of dishes as needed. Although preparing foods to scale can offer a variety of challenges, La Casella prides itself on maintaining a consistent quality across any and every quantity of dishes.
With dishes like bacon-wrapped dates and bacon-wrapped heart of palms, the variety of appetizers all put an emphasis on flavor and simplicity.
Meat and vegetarian options are available, and dishes from all over the world are featured. During La Casella’s ribbon cutting, Moring featured a heavy sampling of some of her appetizers, including spanikopita, spinach dip, and mushrooms stuffed with sausage.
The restaurant is also equipped to pump out desserts in droves, making sure to satisfy the sweet tooth of the smallest and largest groups.
