Battle with 72-year-old man over cleanliness lands Ocala man behind bars

Matthew Allen Woolsey

A 21-year-old Ocala man found himself behind bars on Sunday morning after a violent altercation over cleanliness with a 72-year-old man.

When Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrived at a residence on SW 100th Lane Rd., they found the victim lying on his back on the kitchen floor. He said he was having an argument with 21-year-old Matthew Allen Woolsey, who lives with him. He said the verbal altercation was over Woolsey not clearing up after himself.

The victim said Woolsey then started yelling in his face and shoved him in the chest with both hands, causing him to fall to the kitchen floor. He said a witness then called 911 and Woolsey left the house, a sheriff’s office report states.

A short time later, after the witness confirmed the victim’s story, Woolsey was located in the 10000 block of SW 80th Avenue. After being read his rights, he agreed to speak with the deputy and admitted to shoving the victim during the argument, the report says.

Woolsey was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with domestic battery on a person 65 years of age or older. He was released early Tuesday morning on $1,000 bond and is due in Marion County Court on July 23 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charge.
