Sheriff’s deputy called to Ocala Wal-Mart after bandits abandon stolen items

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called to an Ocala Wal-Mart on Wednesday after two employees saw a couple of bandits leave the store with a cart-full of stolen merchandise.

The employees at the store, located at 34 Bahia Ave., told the store’s loss prevention officer that they confronted the couple. And they said the man and woman left the stolen items behind as they fled the parking lot in a vehicle.

The suspects were described as a middle-aged white man and woman. The man was wearing a gray tank top and the woman was wearing a yellow dress with a flower print on it, the report says.

The deputy watched surveillance video footage of the couple and saw them selecting items and putting them in their cart. They then separated, with the man leaving through the store through the garden center and the woman exiting through the tire center with the loaded cart, the report says.

The merchandise recovered from the parking lot included a push lawnmower valued at $168; two blower fans priced at $54.86 each; and two canopy tents valued at $40.47 each.

All told, the merchandise was valued at $358.66, the report says.
