Passenger caught with 20-plus grams of marijuana in traffic stop

Alejahblo Miranda Salqado

An Ocala man with a lengthy history of drug arrests was charged with possession of over 20 grams of marijuana after the car he was a passenger in was pulled over for speeding.

Alejahblo Miranda Salqado, 24, of 500 SW 33rd Ave. Apt. 9, was in the passenger seat of a gray 2007 Chrysler Sebring that a Florida Highway Patrol trooper caught on radar traveling 62 mph in a 45-mph zone. While one trooper was interviewing the 21-year-old female driver, another trooper interviewed Salqado and noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle when the passenger door was opened, according to the FHP report.

While conducting a probable cause search of the vehicle, a trooper located two clear plastic bags containing a green leafy substance that was identified as marijuana concealed underneath the dash on the passenger side of the vehicle. Salqado said the marijuana belonged to him. Based on a visual estimation of the marijuana, it was determined to be over 20 grams and a felony amount.

Salqado, who’s been arrested 10 previous times for drug-related offenses, was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail. He was released on $13,000 bond.
