City approves construction of new stoplight at SR 492 and NE 30th Ave

The Ocala City Council approved construction of a new stoplight at the intersection of SR 492 and NE 30th Avenue on Tuesday.

During the council’s bi-weekly meeting, council members unanimously approved the stoplight after hearing a brief presentation from City Engineer Sean Lanier.

Lanier indicated that the Florida Department of Transportation had given approval for the bid, which was the only one received by the city. The winning bid came from Traffic Control Devices, Inc., a company based in Altamonte Springs.

The new stoplight should help mitigate traffic that has grown steadily over the years on State Road 492, which doubles as NE 14th Street.
