Fort McCoy woman calls for help after motorcycle stolen from residence

A 39-year-old Fort McCoy woman called a Marion County sheriff’s deputy for help Wednesday after realizing she’d been the victim of theft.

The woman, who lives in the 16000 block of NE 137th Court, told the deputy someone had forcibly entered her residence and stolen her adult son’s motorcycle. She said it marked the third burglary at the residence, a sheriff’s office report states.

The woman told the deputy she left the property on July 4 in the evening and returned Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. She said she noticed the front door of the residence, which was significantly damaged, was pulled shut but the deadbolt lock had been disabled. And she said her 19-year-old son’s black Honda motorcycle, valued at $3,500, was missing.

The deputy noted a scattered pile of what appeared to be metal shavings inside the residence. The woman said there had been a handlebar lock on the motorcycle and she believed the shavings were the result of it being removed.

The deputy made contact with the woman’s son via telephone and he confirmed he wanted the motorcycle listed as stolen. The deputy also gave the woman a card and asked her to call the sheriff’s office if she received any additional information.
